About Me
My name is Mary Nunn and I have been working in secondary and higher education for the last 16 years. After graduating with my Masters in TESL & Literacy, I became an ESL secondary high school teacher. I continued my education in literacy development by getting my AZ Reading Endorsement to more effectively teach literacy skills to not just ESL students, but to struggling readers as well. In 2012, I became a full-time, tenure track Reading Faculty memeber at the community college. For the last decade, I have refined my instructional skill set by implementing adult learning theory best practices in my classes; designing course activities based on Universal Design (UDL) principles; building open-educational resources; and developing blended, hybrid, and both synchronous and asynchronous courses.
My passion to make systemic change at an organizational level led me to my second masters in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning in 2019. In this program, I have been able to continue my passion for developing onboarding and ongoing trainings, developing instructional job aids, conducting organizational needs analyses, collaborating on programmatic evaluations, and more. In my current role as the Training Development Consultant, I have immersed myself in eLearning best practices through Quality Matters by becoming a QM Peer Reviewer and completing the QM Teaching Online Certificate.
Early in my life, I worked in the service industry for over 15 years. It is this experience, knowledge, and philosophy that I have transferred into my roles as both an educator and instructional designer. This philosophy coupled with my passion for learning new technologies, designing for a positive user experience, and creating organizational consistency across programs, is how I focus my efforts on being truly "student first."
